Migration in The Highlands

Real estate agents in the Southern Highlands will certainly agree with me that there is a change of lifestyle amongst the retirees; now when buyers are talking of down-sizing, it’s not the house that is being down-sized, but the size of the land. Moving from two or more acres to half an acre with the same size house means less time in the garden, and more time simply enjoying all the other wonderful interests the Highlands has to offer. Not to mention, instead of spending days in their own gardens, with so many public ‘Open Gardens’ at the moment, one can enjoy admiring the fruits of someone else’s labour.

The ripple effect therefore; there is an increasing number of properties with acreage on the market showing fantastic value for people wanting that extra land to play with (or their growing children to play in) and so prices have become very competitive. Burradoo is an excellent example of buyers now being able to purchase a beautiful family home amongst large established gardens and wonderful treed avenues yet living close to schools, shopping and teenage amenities (and maybe with room for a pony).
